The local communities are an integral part of Hanson & Ryan. We are always looking for ways to give back to them and support them in any way, shape, or form. One way that our employees come together to help a charitable cause is our fund-raising yearlong event “Blue Jean Fridays”, which allows each employee the opportunity to wear nice blue jeans to work on Fridays for a donation of $10 each month, for $20 a month an employee can wear jeans twice a week, Fridays, and any other day of their choosing. With over 30 Employees this is our main donation source, and Hanson & Ryan as a company also matches dollar for dollar the money amount that is raised by the employee donations. By participating in Jean Fridays this gives the employees a chance to nominate a charitable cause who is also an insured. Once the nominations are sent in the employees collectively choose the main philanthropic cause for the upcoming year.

2022’s nominee was The Tyler Clementi Foundation whose mission statement is “To end all online and offline bullying; in schools, workplaces, and faith communities”. The foundation was founded by the Clementi family after their son Tyler’s death became international news in 2010. The Clementi family founded the foundation to help address bullying and to highlight the impact and consequences bullying has. Tyler’s story also brings to light issues such as LGBTQ+ inequality, safety in schools, youth in crisis and cyberbullying. The Tyler Clementi Foundation also looks to help youth in the LGBTQ+ community who are at risk of suicide. They ask everyone to take their “upstander pledge” to stand up to bullying no matter what form it takes, what culture and identity it effects. To take your own Upstander Pledge, please follow https://tylerclementi.org/upstander-pledge/ .  If you would like to learn more about this amazing foundation, please visit: www.tylerclementi.org

Hanson & Ryan also donates to other charitable organizations annually. Each organization has a special meaning to our employees:

  • Autism Awareness
  • Red Nose Day
  • Alzheimer’s Awareness
  • Breast Cancer Awareness
  • And other local charitable organizations

We have also been working with the local knitting group, The Totowa Stiches. Each year the lovely ladies who meet up twice a week at the Totowa Public Library to knit donate bags and bags of knitted hats, scarfs, blankets, and toys which we in turn donate them to a local charity or homeless shelter. We donate money to the ladies so they can purchase knitting supplies such as yarn, needles and more.

2022 Was a super successful year and we are looking forward to 2023!
